Taken this morning from the rooftop of the house here in Cerro Azul, Veracruz (northern Veracruz) 2 pics if light morph juvenile Broad-winged hawks - Buteo platypterus. There can be considerable variation in the plumage of juvenile Broad-wings, the photos above show a lot of barring on the breast and belly, some juveniles display little or no barring in the same areas.

I am just about finished putting the  finishing touches on birding tours for 2010 that will focus on the raptor migrations.
There will be three dates to observe the spring migrations and 4-5 dates to observe the fall migration. I am excited about sharing the Veracruz bird of prey migration with others.
